Start the Riding Season Safe, Strong, and Road-Ready
As the weather warms and the roads call your name, it’s tempting to fire up your motorcycle and ride without a second thought. But after months of winter storage — even mild winters — your bike deserves a full checkup before the first throttle twist.
At Chrome Angelz RC International, rider safety is a core value of our global women’s riding organization. A proper spring inspection protects not only your motorcycle — but you.
Here’s your complete Spring Motorcycle Checkup Checklist:
🔧 1. Battery Health
- Check battery charge level
- Clean terminals and connections
- Inspect for corrosion
- Test voltage (12.6V+ fully charged)
If your bike struggles to crank, replace the battery now — not roadside.
🛢️ 2. Oil & Fluids
- Change engine oil if not done before storage
- Check oil level and color
- Inspect brake fluid (clear to light amber is ideal)
- Check coolant (if liquid-cooled)
- Inspect clutch fluid (if hydraulic)
Old fluids break down over winter and can compromise performance.
🛞 3. Tires (Critical Safety Area)
- Check tire pressure (cold PSI per manufacturer)
- Inspect tread depth
- Look for cracking, dry rot, or flat spots
- Spin wheels and check for wobble
Cold weather can reduce PSI significantly — always adjust before riding.
🔗 4. Chain or Belt Drive
For chain-driven bikes:
- Clean and lubricate chain
- Check slack per spec
- Inspect sprockets
For belt-driven bikes:
- Inspect for cracks, fraying, or missing teeth
- Check belt tension
🛑 5. Brakes
- Inspect brake pads for thickness
- Check rotors for grooves or warping
- Test front and rear brake engagement
- Ensure brake lights activate properly
Brakes are non-negotiable.
💡 6. Lights & Electrical
- Headlight (high/low beam)
- Turn signals (front and rear)
- Brake light
- Running lights
- Horn
Visibility equals survival.
🧰 7. Controls & Cables
- Check throttle response (smooth snap-back)
- Inspect clutch lever free play
- Test front brake lever pressure
- Ensure handlebars turn freely without cable tension
🛢️ 8. Fuel System
- Add fresh fuel if stored long-term
- Consider fuel stabilizer
- Inspect fuel lines for cracks
- Check for leaks
Old fuel can cause rough idling or stalling.
🧼 9. Frame & Suspension
- Check fork seals for leaks
- Inspect rear shocks
- Tighten visible bolts
- Look for rust or corrosion
👢 10. Rider Gear Check
Spring safety includes YOU.
- Inspect helmet for damage
- Check gloves and riding boots
- Inspect jacket armor
- Replace worn reflective elements
Final Step: Take a Short Test Ride
Start with a slow, controlled neighborhood ride.
Test braking, throttle response, and shifting before heading onto highways.
Ride Into Spring With Confidence
